Breast Implant Removal of B-Lite Implants From Germany

Last week, I had a patient from Ukraine (Eastern Europe) come to my Beverly Hills practice for breast revision surgery. As I was removing the implant, it was a type of implant that I had never seen in my 19 years of practice. It appeared to be a textured, coated silicone, similar to a gummy bear implant. However, after removing the implant, I sliced the implant and the silicone was pure white and reminded me of whipped cream.
The following day, I did a little research online and discovered it was from a German MedTech company. The implant is called B-Lite (not approved in the United States at this time) and is a standard medical grade silicone with tiny hollow spheres that are permanently bonded to create a 30 percent lighter silicone breast implant.
The video below shows me removing the implant and cutting it open to see the silicone within the implant.
