On occasion when performing breast reconstruction, achieving optimal results involves both the immediate aesthetic outcome and the long-term maintenance of breast shape. That’s where “GalaFLEX 3D poly-4 hydroxybutyrate” comes in.

GalaFLEX acts as an internal bra, providing temporary yet crucial support to the soft tissue during the healing process. This advanced scaffold helps maintain the shape and position of the breast, reducing the risk of sagging or other complications as your body (breast) recovers.

One of the standout features of GalaFLEX is its ability to biodegrade naturally. Made of poly-4 hydroxybutyrate, a biocompatible material, the scaffold integrates seamlessly into your tissue. Over the course of 12 to 18 months, the GalaFLEX scaffold is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, leaving behind a matrix of strengthened, natural tissue. This process ensures that the breast maintains its desired shape without the need for permanent foreign materials.

By using GalaFLEX it reinforces the inframammary fold and supports the breast during its most vulnerable healing phase, helping the patient to achieve long-lasting, natural looking results.

Incorporating GalaFLEx into breast reconstruction surgery is one of the many ways I ensure my patients receive cutting-edge care tailored to their needs.

Below is a short video where I open the GalaFLEX package and show what this product looks like, as well as a few photos after it’s been placed during the breast surgery.
